Berries, Walnuts and Tahini Crème

I serve this when I have guests or have the need for something a bit special. As with all my food, it is very simple to put together. If you want to make it even easier in the morning you can make the tahini creme the night before but it really isn’t necessary as it takes no time at all.

Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries are a rich source of antioxidants. They are also a low glycaemic fruit which means they are great at any time of day as they give you oomph but don’t cause a blood sugar surge. Berries are also a valuable part of your 5-but-should-be-12 a day intake.

The tahini crème is absolutely delicious and slightly wicked as it isn’t a low calorie food. Tahini is made from sesame seeds which are naturally high in absorbable minerals and great supplier of essential fatty acids (EFA). I have added some hemp oil (or you can use flax if you wish) which boosts the EFA content further. Then to sweeten I included a little agave syrup; a small amount of a good runny honey would be an ‘ok’ alternative but don’t add as much.

Walnuts have come up trumps on the research front and have been found to be particularly useful for prostate and cardiovascular health.

Prep time: 10 – 15 minutes
Cook time: Absolutely none

Serves 2 generously!

  • 2 Handfuls of berries; one type or an assortment (I used raspberries).
  • 10 shelled fresh walnuts

Tahini Crème

  • 1 – 2 heaped tablespoons creamed Tahini
  • 1-2 dessert spoons of Hemp (or Flax) Oil
  • 1-2 teaspoon Agave syrup or Honey


Make the crème: mix all the ingredients together, add more oil if necessary so that it pours
Put the fruit in the bottom of a bowl or glass
Pour the tahini creme over the berries
Top with the walnuts
